The only solution i have found is to create a new vault.
imac, Mac OS X (10.5.1) I am having the same problem.
Aperture Installation, Setup and General Usage I have a continuing and recurring problem updating Aperture vault after the current Aperture update. Updating the vault does not complete and Aperture quits unexpectedly. Since the current Aperture update I've not been able to update my vault.
Aperture allows you to create and use JPEG previews of versions in the library.I have two Aperture vaults on separate portable USB drives. The first time I run the new Aperture it will require updating file formats. From capture to output, you work directly with your RAW files, never having to first convert them into another format before viewing, adjusting, organizing, or printing them. And with the most powerful image processing in the world, Aperture is fast - whether you're working with RAW, JPEG, or TIFF images. My vault and Aperture library are on seperate external drives. I am having the same problem that started the same way. After repeated attempts I can not create a new one without Aperture crashing -- which leads to a multi hour repair session. Can someone from Apple comment on whether this is a known bug? I have previously created a vault successfully on an external La Cie drive, but then the update failed. If your workflows do not benefit from previews, you can configure Aperture not to create them at all.Previews are shared with applications in i Life and i Work, and Aperture uses JPEG previews to display images in slideshows. i am experiencing the very same problem updating my vault.Apple Aperture is designed from the ground up for professional photographers and provides everything you need for after the shoot, delivering the first all-in-one post-production tool for photographers. This option should be used only when repairs to the database or permissions do not address library problems. You should consider using both Repair Permissions and Repair Database whenever you need to run the Aperture Library First Aid utility.Featuring a RAW-focused workflow, Aperture makes RAW as easy as JPEG, letting you import, edit, catalog, organize, retouch, publish, and archive your images more effectively and efficiently than ever before.
